Susie from Pause & Breathe is delighted to bring this taster session of mindfulness to Shambhala Studio. This is a great opportunity to see what mindfulness is all about, and how Susie facilitates the session. If it goes well, and there is interest she will be looking at delivering a regular class here.
Research suggest that mindfulness helps us tune out distractions and improves our memory and attention skills. It also improves our ability to recall information and helps us regulate our emotions. Those who practice mindfulness can experience a decrease in emotional reactivity and an increase in cognitive focus. Practising mindfulness involves acceptance in that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judgement, meaning there is no right or wrong way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, we tune into what we’re sensing at the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.
