Awe Retreat: Isle of Mull

  • Saorphin Cottages Isle of Mull, Scotland United Kingdom (map)

Our retreat in September 2024 helps us to lean into the experience of "awe". As children, we regularly feel awe as we explore the world around us, with excitement and joy. As adults, we can start to feel jaded, we don't leave time in our lives for new experiences and things can start to feel stale and boring.

During our retreat, whether we're practicing Mindfulness, Qi Gong and rest or we're out and about exploring the island, the invitation will be to explore with the attitude of awe. Let's look at the world with fresh eyes, and with a beginner's mind.

Mull has so much to offer that of course there will be day-trips too, we will be organising these nearer the time. All day trips are completely optional, and may incur an additional cost.

We will be staying in two connecting cottages on Saorphin Farm, on the Ross of Mull – the southwestern part of the island. The cottages are peaceful – overlooking Loch Assapol, our closest neighbours are sheep and deer. We can walk to a local beach from the farm, and it’s usually deserted.

The retreat runs from Sunday 1st September, until Saturday 7th September. Arrival is from 3 pm onwards, and we leave the cottages by 9am. Retreatants are responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from the cottage, although if you are arriving by public transport, we can arrange to pick you up and drop you off at the ferry port on Mull for a small additional charge.

Depending on the weather, some of our sessions will be outside, including dips in the sea if you fancy joining us. We will also have a variety of optional day trips, allowing you to see more of the island, including the Isle of Iona and Staffa.

Please note that it's not possible to bring pets on retreat.

The cost of the retreat varies, depending on the room you choose to stay in. For one person in a shared room, the price is £995 per person. A single supplement is £1245. There are also some rooms with double beds, for two people booking a double room it's £1690. This includes full board accommodation for six nights, and all teaching sessions.

We do have one subsidised space: please get in contact to have a chat if this would suit you best in terms of your financial circumstances.

If you would like to book a place on the retreat, contact us at pause@pauseandbreathe.co.uk, and we will send you the terms and conditions. To secure your booking, we will require a deposit. We will be in contact to arrange payment. Depending on when you book, it may be possible to set up a payment plan for the retreat.
